This series puts faces to numbers. I raise questions about what it means to be a refugee in a world where we have decided to accept borders as an inalterable fact of life, and where we have decided to accept that parts of the world can be owned and others can be excluded from that world and within which they can be unjustly treated and even rejected.
Amnesty International says there are about 35 million refugees right now (July 2023), half of whom are children. Millions of people trying to escape manmade disasters such as wars, poverty, hunger, and oppression. Adding unnecessary suffering to an already difficult life. And they are not all from 'third world' countries.
